Gyrokinesis® Exercise Classes Come to Grant Park!

GYROKINESIS® movement training is now being taught at Nirvana Yoga on Thursday afternoons from 4:30 – 5:30 in Grant Park. Nirvana Yoga is located at 464 Cherokee Ave, suite 201, above the Dakota Blue restaurant. Gyrokinesis is a relatively new exercise form that was originally referred to as yoga for dancers and feels like a combination of yoga, pilates, and tai chi. It focuses on circular movements of the spine, breathing, and continuous flow to develop improved body awareness, core strength, flexibility, and movement integration.

Gyrokinesis increases the functional capacity of the entire body in a harmonious way and leaves one feeling energized, strong, relaxed, and focused. It was developed by injured dancer Juliu Horvath as a way to bring movement back into and strengthen his body and is suitable for movers of all experience levels.  The classes are taught by long time Grant Park resident Sally Radell. Radell is on the dance faculty at Emory University and has a strong commitment to the study of movement in all its forms. Exercise attire and a mat are recommended for class participation. Join us in the never-ending quest for balance, flow, and strength in our bodies through the gyrokinesis work!
