GPSP NEWS
Please join us in a standing ovation to our retiring security patrol
officer
Deputy Sheriff Huner
. Huner has been patrolling our streets for the security patrol for over 20 years. His knowledge of our local cast of characters and their MOs have been invaluable. He will be missed. He has been offered a position with the Rockdale District Attorney’s office as investigator and will no longer have the flexibility to allow him to cover our weekday patrols. We wish him well in his new
position. In the meantime,
Lt. Iosty
has taken on extra patrols and we’re grateful for his experience in the neighborhood as well. In addition to his bicycle, Lt. Iosty will be patrolling in a dark blue Ford SUV.
Sgt. Jim Hodge,
who used to be assigned to our old precinct in Grant Park and who formerly patrolled for us as well, is interested in doing some patrol hours. He is on the lieutenant promotion list, but for now will patrol one morning and one afternoon each week for us, in coordination with Lt. Iosty.
Our
Annual Meeting
will be held Saturday, April 14th at 2 PM at 354 Grant St. Come have a slice of pizza and a soda, cast your vote for our corporate officers, and hear about the latest crime scenes.
We have a critical need for members who value the security patrol to step up and get involved as corporate officers, or commit to be Secretary-elect, Treasurer-elect or President-elect.
More detailed job descriptions for all the corporate officer positions are available.
CRIME NEWS:
As reported in crime alerts, this quarter has been relatively quiet, but there have been reports of mail/packages being stolen from front porches; and

a burglary on Delmar near Confederate where several electronics items were taken.
two Toyota 4-Runners had their catalytic converters stolen.
In February:
copper toppers on fence posts have been stolen from as many as five homes, both on the east and north sides of the neighborhood.
several car break-ins where the GPS was the target (1 on Park north of I-20 and one at the zoo parking lot).
In March:
One burglary on Grant St near Grant Park Place,
One GPS taken from a vehicle at the lofts on MLK at Grant St,

2 cell phones that had been stolen in car break-ins have been traced back to Trestle Tree Apartments via phone apps. We are working with Trestle Tree management to resolve this issue.
Please report all
incidents and all suspicious activity to 911.
Remember to notify GPSP if you are going away on vacation, with your dates and details about authorized visitors, whether pets are in the house, whether your vehicle/s are being left outside and any other helpful information. Also, take the usual precautions of canceling newspapers and mail delivery, leaving lights on timers and asking your immediate neighbors to keep an eye on your property.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES GO DIRECTLY INTO PATROL HOURS! PLEASE SEND IN YOUR DUES PROMPTLY AND ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO JOIN TOO. MORE MEMBERS = MORE POLICE PRESENCE!
CORPORATE PARTNERS:
Thanks to
Adams Realtors, APCO Graphics Inc, Botwinick and Botwinick, CPAs
and
Edward Jones Investors (Paul Harrison)

The patrol membership is updated for the patrol officers during the 1
st
week of each month based on fees that came in during the previous month. Membership fees are
not
prorated for the quarter & membership is
not
provided on a rolling 3-month basis, but for set quarters or 4 consecutive quarters. If you have paid in March, you are good for the next quarter (April - June).
