Statement from City Council Member Carla Smith Regarding Pedestrian Safety Fixes September 19, 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from City Council Member Carla Smith Regarding Pedestrian Safety Fixes in Grant Park

Grant Park Security Patrol (GPSP) Grant Park Security Patrol is a nonprofit corporation(IRS 501C4), which hires off-duty City of Atlanta police officers to patrol the streets of our neighborhood, to supplement the regular patrols of APD. Although "off-duty," these police officers still retain full policing powers, allowing them to stop and question suspicious persons, ask for IDs, and check for prior arrests and outstanding warrants. Patrol schedules are constantly updated to address the crime patterns the neighborhood experiences.

Final Concept Plan for Memorial Drive Greenway Thanks to your input and feedback, the community-led Park Visioning process, facilitated by Park Pride, has been completed. Tax Appeal Information If you are a property owner in Fulton or DeKalb County, you should have recently received the Annual Notice of Assessment from your county's Assessors Office. In many cases your "Current Year Fair Market Value" is substantially higher than the 2016 value. If you want to challenge the new valuation, we can advise and help you through the process.

Grant Park Victorian tour home showcases ‘soft masculine’ style The Folk Victorian home was built in the early 1900s in Grant Park, which is holding its 43rd Annual Grant Park Spring Tour of Homes on May 20 and 21. The residence, which has been renovated over the years, now has 3,200 square feet, three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths.

Ormond-Grant Park Update Work is currently underway at Ormond-Grant Park to add a new entrance point to the park and install an interactive rain garden to better manage storm water. These improvements are made possible by a generous Legacy Grant from Park Pride and build upon work completed last year by the City of Atlanta to replace aging playground equipment. Ormond-Grant Park remains open throughout the renovation.

Oakland Alive - Cemetery Master Plan The Historic Oakland Cemetery Master Plan Survey is online now and they would appreciate your input. As Oakland Cemetery remains an ever-popular tourist destination and as more people begin moving in and around Memorial Drive, the cemetery's master plan has to evolve. This update to the master Plan is not a complete makeover; rather it represents an opportunity to clarify the vision of Historic Oakland Foundation and establish an environment for a future capital campaign. This plan will help the Foundation manage change and better position the cemetery for long-term sustainability. We hope that you will join us.
