During Atlanta Streets Alive on May 19th from 2 -6 pm we will be partnering with IKEA to help create pop up parks (parklets) for you to share your neighborhood on Peachtree St.

Community Builds Natural Playscape at The Highlander School - Photos
The Highlander School in East Atlanta Village hosted a Community Build event to help create a natural playscape, one of the first of its kind in Atlanta! The new playscape design, by Rusty Keeler of Earthplay, was inspired by the hills, rivers, and plants of Georgia and will be filled with art, music, and nature-inspired play features.The Community Build event involved many skilled volunteers and generous donors. Friends of Ormond-Grant Park Facebook group created to promote efforts to renovate the park
You're invited to check out the Friends of Ormond-Grant Park Group page on Facebook. The group was formed as part of an effort to apply for grants and raise funds to renovate the park. There is a Mother's Day picnic planned. The friends group is guided by the Grant Park Neighborhood Association's Parks & Rec Committee, partnered with the Grant Park Parents Network, and Park Pride.

Smart 911 - Associate your phone number for a faster response
Smart911 is a free service that allows citizens across the U.S. to create a Safety Profile for their household that includes any information they want 9-1-1 to have in the event of an emergency. Then, when anyone in that household dials 9-1-1 from a phone associated with their Safety Profile, their profile is immediately displayed to the 9-1-1 call taker providing additional information that can be used to facilitate the proper response to the proper location.

Sonya Milner of the Nicholas House on Boulevard informed us about their work and how Grant Park neighbors can help. We learned about the Grant Park Hoedown! Giddy up!!

GPNA Meeting Minutes - 2013, January 15
GPNA welcomed our new president Lauren Rocereta. We discussed the Lakewood LCI and ideas for forming a "Friends of" type Cyclorama group. A bylaws committee is being formed. Marie Mower introduced interim Parkside Elementary Principal Sarah Haynes.

Food trucks at Homegrown - Every Sat & Sun at 4:30pm
As of Jan 12, 2013, food trucks are now serving dinner in the parking lot at Homegrown restaurant at 839 Memorial Drive every Saturday and Sunday from 4:30pm until 8:30pm.
There were five trucks the first weekend with a great selection. These trucks generally spend the week at the food truck park on Howel Mill Road. No alcohol is served. Pass it along and bring the kids.

Celebrity Chef Sammy Davis Bringing His Dream to Grant Park
Celebrity Chef and Grant Park resident, Sammy Davis, was the winner of $10,000 in a redemption competition episode of 'Chopped' on the Food Network. Sammy Davis has lived in Grant Park for 7 months, but his new wife Carmen has lived here for 6 years. We thank her greatly for bringing Sammy and his dream to our neighborhood! Sammy Davis is opening The Park Market & Deli in Grant Park on November 6, 2012, and Carmen gave GPNA a sneak peek.
