Fairwell Cyclorama

Neighborhood History
Home of the world's largest painting, "The Battle of Atlanta". Painted long before the advent of motion pictures, the Cyclorama is a 42 foot high, 358 foot long painting in the round. Intended to recreate the Battle of Atlanta, the Cyclorama was begun in 1885 with on site sketches and observations by a dozen artists, including one who actually was present at the battle as a war correspondent. The Cyclorama is one of only a few remaining examples in America of this kind of popular 19th century attraction. The Cyclorama is also home of the historic Civil War locomotive "Texas".

The Cyclorama is located at 800 Cherokee Avenue adjacent to Zoo Atlanta.
